Feature

Drag & Drop

Move a booking to another time or place in one gesture.

What it's for

Plans change constantly on a live floor. A party of four wants the window instead, a treatment runs long and pushes the next one back, a guest calls to move from seven to eight. Dragging the booking is faster than opening it, editing two fields and saving.

Pick a booking up and drop it where it should be — another time, another table, another station. The planner re-checks availability as you drop, so a move that would collide is refused rather than silently creating a double booking.

Everything the booking carries comes with it: the guest, the party size, the tags, the confirmation status. You are moving the reservation, not retyping it.

How to reach & use it

1
Press and hold a booking
On the mainboard, hold a booking for a moment until it lifts. On a desktop, click and hold.
2
Drag it where it belongs
Move across to another column to change the table, room or station; move along to change the time.
3
Drop it
Release. The booking lands on its new slot and the mainboard redraws around it.
4
Check the guest still knows
If the time changed and the guest has already confirmed, send a fresh confirmation so they are not turning up at the old one.

Limits & good to know

A drop that would overlap an existing booking, or exceed the capacity of the place you dropped it on, is refused — the booking springs back.
You cannot drag a booking outside your opening hours for that day.
Moving a booking does NOT automatically notify the guest. Send a confirmation from the booking if the new time needs their agreement.
Bookings in the past cannot be dragged.
On a small phone screen, opening the booking and editing the time is often steadier than dragging.

Frequently asked questions

Will the guest be told that I moved their booking?

Not automatically. Moving is a floor decision and most moves do not concern the guest — a swap between two free tables, say. When the time itself changes, open the booking and send a confirmation.

Can I accidentally double-book by dragging?

No. Availability is checked at the moment you drop, and a colliding drop is refused.

Does dragging work on a phone?

Yes — press and hold, then drag. On a small screen the columns are narrow, so editing the booking directly is sometimes easier.
